Carnival in São Paulo 2023

My first bloco at carnival in São Paulo was far more fun than I could have expected. Following the sea of people, all shepherd by mobile floats blasting music. People singing, drinking from floats, spontaneous bouts of strangers kissing one another. An experience to say the least. When I say sea of people, I mean it. Barely any room to stretch out too far, I opted to use my wrist strap as opposed to the shoulder strap. This really made it easier to keep the camera close to my face as moments happened. I also had a backpack with a camera latch on the strap when I needed both hands...you know...for drinks (pro tip, buy two drinks so you don't have to wait in line again!). Shooting this was a bit chaotic to say the least, however, as you could imagine, it was a paradise for capturing awesome moments! Costumes were over the top and brilliant with faces painted and residents cheering from windows above. Interestingly, later in the day, it began to rain! Forcing everyone to find cover where the could. For those who were stuck out in the open, fully embraced the moment.

Experiencing São Paulos carnival through a chaotic lens must be thrilling. The rain adding to the vibe sounds like a memorable twist! https://batoto.website
